Observatorio de Aves Esteparias de Castilla y León

Informa la Fundación Global Nature en su página web el nacimiento del Observatorio de Aves Esteparias de Castilla y León, una interesante iniciativa que pretende determinar las áreas relevantes para las especies más amenazadas. Al mismo tiempo se quiere evaluar el estado de conservación y ofrecer soluciones a los numerosos problemas que tiene este grupo de aves.

El Observatorio agrupa a diferentes asociaciones ecologistas y naturalistas, que se plantean hacer un muestreo mediante una metodología aplicada a la mayor superficie posible de hábitat favorable. Para ello se harán censos en cuadrículas de 10x10 km de manera que se recopilen los datos necesarios para hacer un buen diagnóstico actualizado de la situación de las esteparias en Castilla y León.

Centrarán el trabajo en siete especies, el sisón común, aguilucho cenizo, ganga ibérica, ganga ortega, alondra ricotí, avutarda euroasiática y cernícalo primilla.

Las organizaciones impulsoras de esta iniciativa hacen un llamamiento a todas las personas aficionadas a la ornitología para que participen en este proyecto, al que ya han mostrado su apoyo siete entidades castellano-leonesas.

The Fundacion Global Nature reports on its website the birth of the "Observatory of steppe birds of Castilla y Leon", an interesting initiative that aims to determine the relevant areas for the most endangered species. At the same time, the aim is to evaluate the state of conservation and offer solutions to the numerous problems faced by this group of birds.

The Observatory brings together different ecological and naturalist associations, which plan to carry out a sampling using a methodology applied to the largest possible area of favourable habitat. To this end, censuses will be carried out in 10x10 km squares in order to compile the necessary data to make a good, up-to-date diagnosis of the situation of steppe birds in Castilla y Leon.

The work will focus on seven species, the Little Bustard, Montagu's Harrier, Iberian Sandgrouse, Black-bellied Sandgrouse, Eurasian Skylark, Eurasian Bustard and Lesser Kestrel.

The organisations behind this initiative are calling on all ornithology enthusiasts to take part in this project, which has already received the support of seven organisations in Castilla y Leon.
